Hand And Finger PainTrigger finger is a condition that affects the tendons in the hand. Over time, this can make it incredibly difficult for you to bend your finger or even your thumb and it may even become swollen or inflamed as a result. If the finger catches, you may also hear a clicking sound so this is something that you will need to look out for. Trigger finger usually affects the ring finger, the little finger or the thumb however it is entirely possible for more than one part of the hand to be affected.

As for the symptoms, you may find that you have pain at the bottom of your fingers or your thumb when you bend it, however it may also be painful when pressure is applied. This is especially the case when it is the first thing in the morning and if the condition worsens then your finger may be stuck in a bent position where it cannot fully straighten.

If you have this in your thumb, and your thumb alone then you may have what is called “trigger thumb” however you will need to go to your doctor to have your hand medically examined before an accurate diagnosis can be reached. Your doctor may move your hand to see how much movement you do have and other treatment methods may be required if the standard practices don’t work.
